Flood victims to get free legal advice
Free legal advice is being offered to New South Wales north coast residents who suffered property damage in the recent floods.
Kyogle Mayor Ernie Bennett says a public information forum will be held in the town today and a similar forum was held yesterday in Tweed Heads.
The sessions are an initiative of Legal Aid New South Wales, and councillor Bennett says it is important that people know their rights when it comes to insurance claims.
He says there will be a range of experts on hand to give advice.
“You don’t hear all the private issues that people have about insurances etc, the legal aid agencies participating in the forum will be the insurance law service, and the insurance ombudsman’s service, Legal Aid NSW, the Insurance Council of Australia, as well as the Northern Rivers Community Legal Centre,” he said.
