Editor's Note, Autumn 2008
After all the storms and floods we’ve had over the past few months, I hope your copy of NRMB arrives nice and dry for you. Our Autumn issue is jam packed with business information in our Business Matters section covering Business Planning, End of Financial Year tips, Innovation, Employment & Training, Meetings and Events and much more.
Following on from our pre Christmas storms our region has had more environmental challenges thrown at it with the extended mature La Nina weather pattern in the Pacific continuing to influence our climate. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology forecast this pattern to last up until the end of Autumn, so make the most of any dry days.
This issue our major feature is on Lismore, with a history of steady, controlled growth and significant ongoing development, Lismore is recognised as the region’s business centre. Today, Lismore is reaping the rewards with a thriving business community and local economy.
I’d like to welcome on board our newest contributor, John Gemmel of Intention Coaching & Development. John brings with him a wealth of experience helping both small and large businesses. Check out his article on p14.
End of financial year is approaching and now is a great time to give your business and equipment a health check. While you’re doing that you may also like to check your accounting systems, are they working effectively for your business? Find out what to look for in Business Matters.
Innovation and Inventions are also on the agenda this issue with the launch of the 2008 Invest Northern Rivers Technology and Innovation Awards. So for any budding inventors, or businesses, who have introduced new innovations into their business, now is the time to let your ideas shine. For the lowdown go to p13.
We hope you enjoy this issue of NRBM and that it keeps you motivated through the rest of the La Nina weather.
Happy Easter to all our NRBM readers.
